Default Finally got a Collings!!!

This has been a long time coming, but ever since I began to learn mandolin I have had my eye on Collings mandolins. Not only to I respect greatly what they have done with Guitars, the first time I played an MTO in Artisan Guitars in Franklin TN a few years ago I knew that I would own one at some point in the future. A certain amount of horse trading has made this a reality and I couldn't be happier. It is a MT2-O model and thus far it seems perfect for what I do. Absolutely beautiful example of craftsmanship and wood. The back and Neck are stunning, and the Honey Amber coloring is great. I thought I would end up with a sunburst but really loved and appreciated the contrast of the black accents and tortoise binding with the Honey Amber color. I got it used and it does have a few small signs of wear but that doesn't bother me. I may end up sending it off to Collings to have a pickguard made, but other than that this thing is perfect. It is great to have an instrument that inspires me to play, and many of you know how valuable that is as a player. Now off to play.

I don't think anything shows off flame maple like a mando neck. The dimensions just makes it almost look like an optical illusion.

Congrats on that Beauty. I agree on the honey amber. It doesn't look vintage, it looks timeless.

Default Collings Mandolin

It will only beautify more as it ages. Congratulations on your new member of the family!

That's beautiful! During one of my factory tours, I was blown away by one of their mandolins. Honestly, it was one of the prettiest instruments I have ever seen and I don't even seriously play a mandolin.

I hope you enjoy that one a lot... congratulations!

I really like the tone Collings gets from their oval holes. Not many do carved top, oval mandolins better than Collings. And the black tuner buttons look fantastic.

Gorgeous! Congrats on what I'm sure is a great sounding instrument. I had a similar feeling when I finally got my Weber mando. Enjoy
