Default Slane (traditional Irish)

Another simple song, took only about 15 minutes to learn it and record a few "takes" to get a decent recording. **We had the a/c running in the next room and my wife was watching TV so there may be a little "Cash Cab" in the background, lol. My window for quiet recordings won't open until next Saturday afternoon.

** update**

Originally posted mp3 file replaced with recording done with a spaced pair of mics, not a perfect recording (someone had to breath, lol and my wife was watching TV in the living room), but a lot better!

Arrangement by AGF member Jim Tozier from his Celtic Guitar Solos book and cd set.

CGDGAD tuning, capo 2 played on the Martin D-16GT with lightly played 2 month old D'Addario EJ24 strings (medium trebles, light G-A, medium E) . Two mics, one at the head stock about a foot away and another at the lower bout about 14" away.

Slane:

Sounds very good, Barry! That's a song I know fairly well. The melody is from a church hymn, "Be Thou My Vision." Well done!

Barry, nice job, if you got that in 15 minutes you're really making progress!

FYI I think it's the other way around i.e. The hymn was set to the melody of Shane which is a much older song.

Sounds great, Barry--the playing, the guitar and the recording.

I also know the tune from the familiar hymn, as well as Van Morrison's version on his album Hymns to the Silence.

Well done!

Well, you are very probably right, John!!! That would make total sense!

Thanks for the feedback!
