I'm at my house in the mountains just west of Woodstock. On the way up from LI, I heard Ten Years After do ''I'm Going Home''. Still love that performance!

Here's a list of the artists. Quite a few acoustic acts among them:

There's a blistering performance of that tune on Ten Years After's live 'Undead' record, along with Woody Herman's 'Woodchopper's Ball'. Alvin Lee was a fine guitarist.

I'm lucky enough (and, sadly, old enough) to have seen the Who live multiple times , back in the their heyday (and mine).

The Who were ALWAYS on top form.

Always a really tight set, going straight from one number to the next with barely a pause, no faffing about on stage.

Always culminating in the eagerly anticipated drum, guitar and amp destruction.

You think Richie Havens was hard on guitars ? Try Pete.

I dont much care for English groups somehow with the exception of Jimi Hendrix. Yes I know hes not English but the other guys are so sorta. The Who were never on my list, I just dont get it.

I agree with you Lefty!

For me, this is exemplary of one of Richie Haven’s greatest talents. He was very creative in interpreting a song and constructing his own very unique arrangement. His phrasing of the words, his rhythm, and his overall passion for delivering the message of a song were often very different from the original.

I am often let down when I hear a remake of a great song; I think because I am so used to the original. But for Richie Havens, I was often able to appreciate his interpretations; enjoying his versions equally, if not more than those great originals. In my humble opinion, he had a wonderful talent for doing this.
