Default ID Patrick Simmons Doobie Bros thumb pick? Pic added

In the Taylor Volume 85 Summer 2016 issue Pat Simmons is pictured (p. 10) with what looks like a thumb pick, does anyone know/ID it? I've searched but had no luck, I'm thinking it might be for Banjo.
Thanks

I know this is an old thread, but I had the question myself. Check out this video at the 31:30 mark: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nMPK8XTVFWc

Patrick takes a regular thumb pick, grinds off the pick part and uses gaffers tape to affix a conventional flat pick and then tape it on his thumb! WTF? How clever. Necessity is the mother of invention.

That is pretty interesting, and ingenious. I usually just commit to fingerpicking with a thumb pick and fingerpicks, or setting them aside and pulling out the flat pick. I can see the advantages for a performer in a band to just make the thumb pick more of an all-purpose choice.

Thanks for sharing that.

Fred Kelly and Herico make a pick that marries a thumb pick with a standard flat pick. No tape needed
