NGD: Simon & Patrick Showcase Mahogany
Well it may not be “new” or even new to the AGF community but I am no less excited to be the new owner! I was looking for a short scale dread and this beautiful instrument fits the bill perfectly. I think I will really like the 1.72” nut width. As far as scale, I play on the “wrong” leg due to a shoulder injury and find a shorter scale much easier for me on the first few frets.
I will follow up further after having a chance to spend some quality time with her! The very friendly and well versed seller has great pics and doesn’t mind me simply using those - They can be found here: https://imgur.com/a/Kvg3V

Very cool. Close to twenty years ago I used to go back and forth between Anchorage and Vancouver, British Columbia a lot, and something I often did was buy Seagull and Simon & Patrick guitars while down there and bring them back. There weren't any Seagull or Simon & Patrick dealers up here at the time, and the currency exchange rate meant that I could make a little money off each transaction once I got the guitars up here.
Anyway, I always preferred the Simon & Patricks over the Seagulls because the fit and finish on them usually seemed a little better. The other difference, and it was the major difference, was that I definitely prefer the necks on the Simon & Patricks. Not only their shape and profile, but they just seem smoother and easier to play. That Simon & Patrick you've got there is probably the nicest-looking one I've ever seen. Congratulations. I just got a Showcase flame maple, love it! Yours is very nice, congrats! They are exceptional value.
I'm curious about the scale length comment. I thought the Showcase were all 25.5" except the folk sized one. |

Edit: Accidentally typed 28.84 - that would be something!

Congrats, that's a great looking S&P you've got. On a side note , I've always liked that logo on the headstock.

I finally got to spend some time with the guitar. It sounds fantastic! I haven’t played a ton of guitars overall, but I would say it’s less “boomy” than a full scale but there is no lack of power for my needs. It plays SO nice. No finger pain at all after playing it for quite a while straight. I have spent my life working in an office so I have sort of soft hands I guess you could say and this feels so nice. I adore the neck. I camnot imagine one feeling better. Feels like my Gretsch electric. And the 1.72 nut already has me noticing less accidental string muting, but still allows me to reach everything with my not overly large hands. I think it’s truly the sweet spot. I am over the moon happy with this guitar. It is my first all solid and I am going to play the heck out of it! Special thanks to AGFer Ed for taking such great care of it and providing such a great buying experience for me!

I just acquired a Simon & Patrick Showcase too. I got it via Craigslist. Really liking it so far.
Mine is the Showcase Rosewood Concert Hall CH HG & mine is a slot head guitar. The CH indicates Concert Hall, but I have no clue what the HG stands for on the label. I was told that the guitar was made in the "2000's"... Serial number starts with 04. Does that indicate 2004?? I've sent emails to S & P asking for help in determining the age. My TRIC case dies say Simon & Patrick... It says TRIC Canada.... So, I'm not sure if it is a replacement case or an early version
