You should come back...great place, and MUCH better moderated than the Gear Page (I'm not a TGP member, just the occasional lurker, too big and unruly for me)
That's what I mean. Lot's of ads. And they appear in the threads too.

The TDPRI is a great forum with good vibe.
Make sure you check out the annual Telecaster Build Challenge - pretty amazing.

Gave up on The Gear Page a while ago, too many of the same threads repeated over and over, continuous Gibson bashing .

The Les Paul forum is very good, however they do not suffer fools easily.

Nope. I don't like that forum either. I don't enjoy being attacked - and I'm not a fool.

The Seymour Duncan Forum is the friendliest and my fave. And the AGF.

The Seymour Duncan forum is an amazing forum. They really know their pick-ups, regardless of brand.

When it comes to effects, the Gear Page is great.

I really enjoy TGP. It's size is an actual benefit. Lots of volume-- with at least some value most times. In general, I avoid the inane when possible and when I am not the instigator. On the opposite scale, if you are into jazz, the Jazz Guitar Forum is wonderful, a very small community, and has a good gear section.

OK, based on posts I read I tried all the others... The S. Duncan forum is pretty cool (except for the banner stuff), but IMO The Gear Page is hands down still the best.

I've been going to http://forum.gibson.com/. It's a good place, full of good people. There's no big arguments, or swearing, or people making fun of others. and you don't have to own a Gibson or Epiphone to join and converse, so long as you have a passion for electric guitars (they have an acoustic and bass section, but they aren't very active) they'll accept and talk to you. Just follow the user agreement and you'll fit in just fine

I check out FDP (Fender) forum every couple of days. It's not a real big forum but in my experience the people on there are friendly/cordial and many of them certainly know their stuff. Obviously it's big on strats and teles along with Fender amps but there is a section to discuss other gear (pedals and other amps/guitars). Also there is a section where people actually talk about playing guitar and a fella named "rotren" usually posts some nice youtube videos of his licks about once a week.

I had to chuckle at the comment about fueling your overdrive pedal obsession with these electric forums. I went thru that phase and ended up with about 7 different OD pedals at any one time (Wampler Ecstasy, Lovepedal Eternity Fuse, Fulltone OCD, MI Audio Blue Boy, Boss BD-2, Digitech Bad Monkey, MXR Fuzz 108, Rockett Pedals Blue Note). I eventually settled with the Voodoo Lab Sparkle Drive (it was the best all around in terms of "tone", touch sensitivity and transparency). Some of the hype that OD pedals can get is crazy. But I just love little metal boxes with knobs and switches and cute little LED lights.
