I've been playing guitar for fifty years and I never bought a pack of new strings with corrosion on them. Just lucky I guess.
The only strings I've ever gotten with that problem were GHS and Ernie Ball. Which is why I buy Daddario exclusively now.

I'm currently using Martin Retro and SUS and never had a bad string. I'm feeling pretty good about my luck now, so thanks for that.

I have used Martin Marque, D'Addario, LaBella, Ernie Ball, and many others and have never had but two strings that were corroded. I don't know what they were, but they were on the guitar when I bought it. I took all of those off of course and put on some Martins. I think the gloves would help in two areas. First it would prevent skin oils and moisture transfer, and secondly the gloves would reveal any burrs or imperfections.
