Default Lefty Guitar Set Up - Tricky for a Righty Tech?

I picked up a new Larrivee D-04 for my lefty wife a few weeks ago. The action is a bit high and a free set up is included in the purchase.

I am a bit wary of the free set up. The same outfit set up my daughter's strat weeks ago and did not do a great job. The strings buzzed. I was not able to talk to the tech, he is in another part of town.

Should I pay a local specialist (who I can talk too) to do the set up?
He works for the top guitarists in town, and visiting celebrities.

Should I look for a lefty tech? ( I read someone say only a lefty tech should work on a lefty) A lefty tech may be impossible to find in Vancouver.

Do I try the free set up, and if not happy pay the hot shot tech to fix it?

I really like this Larrivee and want the set up to be a good experience for my wife.

Cheers
Casey

Left handed instruments do not present unique challenges to an experienced guitar tech.

I think that's true in a general way. I think that a same handed luthier will get a better feel for what feels right with a setup. I base this on my experience trying to evaluate righty guitars for R/H people.

Probably a free setup is worth what you pay for it. If they couldn't get a Strat right, how much luck would they have with a better quality L/H acoustic?

In my area, north of Seattle, we have a L/H Luthier that's a graduate of Roberto-Venn's school of Luthiery in 2012 that does repair work as well as building guitars and does know his craft. Could be worth a shout out. He does prefer by appointment only.
