After I asked how Mortimor's baritone guitar tastes, Bruce in Australia suggested:

Sorry for the delayed answer, I just now saw your post. The price was $290.50 with a discount of $43.57 with the code "cyber". The electric version has been on sale (on and off) as the SDOTD several times, the last time it was around $279.

I just ordered an Alvarez CJ1 Jumbo case from MF for $74.69 (using the code "HOLIDAY17"). Not quite as good a deal as GC had a while ago (25% off). I hope that I like the ADT60, I almost bought the version with the electronics when it was on sale. I got a great deal on this one, and I have a K&K Pure Mini new in the box that I can install if I want to. Are there any other differences between the two Alvarez models other than the obvious no pickguard, sunburst top, and electronics?

I think you catalogued the differences there. I ordered the JC-1 case about a week after my ABT610ESHB arrived, from the SDOTD sale. I wanted to try the guitar first, having some doubts, before spending more $$$ still on a hard case. I paid the same $76 price you did on the case after spending $299 on the guitar. I'm pretty happy with both, especially for $375 all-in, including delivery. Yes, there are better baritone guitars out there, but at several multiples of that price. I should really try the electronics before more time passes.....

Some earlier posters have mentioned that the regular ABT60 is part of the Alvarez product line, but the ABT610 is a special GC / MF only version, and does not appear on the Alvarez web site. I was able to register my warranty just fine on the Alvarez site last week, however.

Thanks for the response, and enjoy your guitar! It has a great looking finish, and I like the no pickguard look. Mine has a rather high action. I can certainly sand down the saddle, but are baritones supposed to have higher actions?

I posted these pictures of the string height that works well for me on my ABT-60 ...

... someone immediately noticed the double dot fret markers are not parallel.

Just tell them to count things and wash their hands repeatedly until they feel better!

Thanks for that, but I can't clearly tell what the measurements are. The top photo appears to be 3/32", and the bottom photo appears to be 4mm. If that is correct, those are two different distances. I'm assuming that both photos are of the same guitar.

Yes, same guitar-same non-parallel fret markers
The metric ruler pictured is 1.0 mm increments on the left and 0.5 mm increments on the right.
So, just over 2.0 mm - probably 2.2-2.3 mm
I tune 'C' to 'C'.
If you want to tune 'B' to 'B' you may need to raise that height as the strings will have less tension and may be too floppy/buzzy.

My ABT610ESHB came with a bit of a backbow. After some truss rod adjustments to get rid of most of the buzz, the twelfth fret action is just below 2.5mm on the bass side and just above 2mm on the treble side.

I have it tuned B to B and there is still a bit of fret buzz on the 9th fret of the low B string. I used a credit card as a fret rocker and the frets seem level with each other in that area, so it appears the baritone needs either higher action or a bit more neck relief than I normally use.

If you tune 'C' to 'C' does that slight buzz disappear?

I have to hit the string a bit harder to produce the buzz if I tune C to C.

Because I thought the credit card I used to do my fret level tests might have been flexing and ruining my results, I repeated my rocker tests using a thicker, stiffer credit card and it rocks slightly on the 8th and 10th fret, leading me to believe the 9th fret is low.

Now I just have to decide how big of a problem this is.
