Default oh boy

***** FULL DISCLOSURE *****

After I took the pics for this sale (Dec 16th) I put the Seagull in it's case and left it there. Today I went to measure the string spacing at the bridge, played a few strums, and noticed a weird smear on the top of the fret board at the 3rd fret. I HAVE NO IDEA HOW IT GOT THERE. I swear it wasn't there before. I had to look twice because I thought my eyes were fooling me. Here's a pic:

Is it something to do with the finish? Assuming the finish on the neck is different than the finish on the fretboard, perhaps this is the line between the two? I really have no idea.

Then I looked over the entire guitar, and noticed one more smear, again on the top of the neck, here's a pic:

The rest of the neck/guitar is fine. But what the heck!!

BTW the string spacing is 2 1/4" at the saddle.

I can understand why you might be upset, but it doesn't look like a big deal from here.

If anyone can tell me what's going on with the neck, I'd appreciate it! I'm going to post this question in the general forum, maybe someone will know.

the rosewood used in the fretboard of seagulls is pourous(which isn't something wrong, just the nature of the wood), its possible if you used some sort of wax/polish that it filled some of those areas and became apparent after drying-i've seen this sort of thing before on other brands as well.

Actually the string spacing at the saddle is 2 1/8". I re-measured it more carefully this time. Sorry about that!

Hi!

This would be the kind of guitar that would be good for fingerstyle because:
* The cedar top reponds quickly and is more sensative to a lighter touch
* The short scale length means it's easier to fret
* The folk body style gives you a more balanced sound - all the strings are quite close to each other in the amount of volume they produce - one string is not louder than the others

I have to say though, that the very wide fretboard (1.8") will make this guitar more difficult to play for someone with small(er) hands.

Nope this helps!

This guitar would be wonderful for fingerstyle, and also forgiving because of the somewhat wider spacing. I had an S6 as my first guitar and ive missed it ever since. If this is still around in a week or so when my bonus comes in.........

Are you positive? That seems very narrow for a guitar with a wide nut width. Very nice looking guitar, BTW.

Yeah it does seem unusual, doesn't it? The nut width is quite wide but the saddle with is not. That's why I made the mistake in the first place, I was expecting 2 1/4.

Default Up for sale again

I bought this lovely guitar but unfortunately I have to sell it. I'm still working on a price but I am considering any reasonable offers.
