Default Looking for thin hollow body guitar

I am a total naif about electrics.

I love my Gibson acoustic, but a ES-335 may be a bit much on the budget.

Any recs on hollow body alternatives to an ES 335 but is LIKE an ES 335?

Semi or full hollow body? Eastman made an el rey EL0 for a while that was a very cool instrument! The entire el rey line are real hollowbodies I believe (not semi).

Here's a few threads that might help:

FYI the new Gibson 335 Studio comes in at less than half the price of the standard model - if you can stretch your budget a bit above the Epiphone/Ibanez/Washburn/Yamaha bracket you can have the real thing...

Eastman makes some nice ones for just under $1k. Maple laminate, maple center block, and pretty good pickups. Nice thin nitro finish, too.

Keep a look out for early 80s semi`s from the likes of Ibanez, Yamaha, Aria Pro II etc. The Ibanez Japanese made AS-80/100/200 models are all highly rated, as are the Yamaha SA series.

For a really good but cheap 80s semi, I would look no further than the Westone Rainbow I/II guitars.

Good luck searching.

Steve.

You have a lot of choices. First though, when you say hollowbody do you mean semi-hollow? Semi hollow are what a 335 really are: there is a solid block running under the strings the length of the hollow body. This combats feedback and helps sustain. I have an ES359 and it's semi hollow and is what I wanted for these two reasons.

Epiphone, Eastman and others make semi hollows and hollow bodies that are a lot less than a Gibson, and will get you close.
