Default It finally got here! Emerald X20 NGD

After several months of waiting, it finally arrived yesterday and it's everything I hoped it would be, although it looks better than I could have imagined. And of course it plays and sounds amazing! Sean was great to work with throughout the process.

It's hard to get photos that don't reflect too much, and that accurately capture the color. My photos don't measure up to the ones from the Emerald studio.

Ziricote top, amber back and sides. I think I need to get another X20 soon!

I seem to always say "that's the best looking one yet", and I have to say it again for this one. Gorgeous !! My favorite so far. Congrats!

That’s a real looker of an X20. Like some other Emerald woodies, yours has some little faces going on. Cool! Congrats, B. Enjoy it!

Welcome to the EX20CW club!

What did you get for a pickup? I don't see any thumb-wheels in the sound hole which usually means K&K or perhaps nothing at all...

Same here. Well, you're in the extra special EX20CWKK club! Here's mine! We should have jackets made, or something...

I have no earthly need for an X20, yet still routinely migrate over to the “In-stock” pages at Emerald. Those two aren’t helping...

It sounds great! It's very balanced from top to bottom. The top end shimmers and the low end is full, and the midrange is perfect too. I'm not sure how you could make it any better. I find that the low end is slightly less to the me as I'm playing than it is in front of the guitar, but on the other hand it allows me to hear more detail and be more precise with my playing, so it's not a bad thing, especially since I know it's there. It seems to be lacking some overtones or something that my wood guitars have, but with some clarity that the wood doesn't have. Maybe overtones isn't the right word, because it's definitely not one-dimensional. It resonates better over the whole range than other guitar I've played, that's for sure. I'd say it has a character of it's own, but it sounds every bit as good as the best guitars I've played, maybe better.

I guess I can't really adequately describe it. It just sounds great!
