Ditto!...We have had the same stainless steel French Press for more than two decades and it makes outstandingly good coffee. Nothing to replace, it doesn't break or die, it simply works. Two years ago, after hearing reviews, we purchased an Aeropress and it simply makes the perfect cup of coffee.

I have a stainless steel french press that makes 32 ounces of coffee. I doubt it will wear out or break in my lifetime.

Wife is now on her 2nd Keurig first one had to often be hit hard on the top to start brewing (4 years old). She's also got a single-cup Nespresso machine.
I use a "12 cup" (silly measurements, it really equals 7 or 8 REAL coffee mugs) less than $20 from Wallyworld. Replaced every few years when the base has rusted out. I only make a single mugful at a time with it (water under the '4' mark' and 2 heaping tablespoons of ground coffee). Easy to remember to shut it off when done pouring that one cup. And sure is cheaper than Kcups.

^^^^This absolutely.

We switched to a stainless steel stovetop percolator a few years ago. Buy the beans whole and grind them course. The coffee is delicious, the smell is awesome, and its all fairly maintenance free.

Thank you. Glad somebody appreciates a coffee maker that you don't need to take out a home equity loan to purchase.

Here's what I ended up with. Farberware brand, Keurig knock-off, but comes with the adapter for ground coffee at the princely sum of $34.92. Best feature is the 24oz removable reservoir. It will make 8, 10, 12, or 14 oz servings.

So far, so good. Flavor and strength are good. Thinking maybe if I don't make full pots I may cut back on consumption a bit. I'll try it with some K-cups this weekend.

I'll admit my lack of sophistication (despite my years in Seattle). I still like Lutheran Church Basement coffee. When my mother-in-law passed away a year ago I took the 1950's era percolator from her kitchen (in Fertile, MN). I always liked her coffee. And I think of her every morning while brewing coffee.

Another vote for a good French press. Best coffee ever!

I bought my Krups espresso maker for $25 at a drug store 8 years ago. Still works fine.

When I am on the road I bring my Bialetti stove top ("Moka") espresso, the stainless steel ones. It is now 11 years old. No moving parts (it only has three parts). Easy to clean. Great coffee.

After trying nearly every different brand and "way to go", I've finally relegated myself to the original Mr. Coffee units... usually find them for under $20, no bells and whistles or digital nonsense. I've payed as little as $12.95 for one of the 12 cup size.

Then, I take care of them until they go down, and then I get another.

On my 4th year with the current contender!

At first glance I thought this thread was about some unlucky barista!

My Kuerig type1 Classic has been making a couple cups a day now for at least 7 years. I also keep a drip next to it for weekends when I make a pot of decaf for the day.

I will admit I do like percolated coffee. My folk music club operates a monthly coffee house. There something about the coffee from a two gallon percolator.

I have a Keurig everywhere I sleep and one in my Tahoe place that I've had for +/- 10 years without an issue.
