Finger Tension
Last night I decided to get stoned before my practice session. I often make minor breakthroughs when stoned as it opens up my creative mind and I'm able to better analyse my playing technique.
I noticed a slight amount of tension on my right hand when fingerpicking. I made a concious effort to release that tension so that my right hand felt absolutely relaxed while playing. It made a huge difference. I was able to play the correct strings effortlessly even though it felt like I had less control. I analysed my playing and I think it's because "normally" I tend to bend the finger more at the middle knuckle whereas I should be bending more at the main knuckle with very little movement in the other knuckles down the finger. Anyway. Thought I'd post this as I had never read about this anywhere when looking at content for people starting fingerstyle. I'm a year into playing and I'm fairly sure this is going to accelerate my playing ability. Now to work on that ****ed left hand tension! |

Now the trick will be if you play as good when you're not stoned
Where's my cold beer?
