I haven't had a real Fender since I discovered I could build the equivalent of a custom shop myself with parts from USA Custom or Warmouth, paint them with ReRanch nitro, and load them up with pickups from the likes of Don Mare, Lindy Fralin, or Van Zandt and use Glendale bridges and saddles all for under $700.

Probably done 6 or eight strats and a dz. teles. Painted 30 or so necks for friends. Poly just doesn't do it for me.

It's exciting assembling your own Strat. I bought a neck from Warmoth a few years ago and parts from other places to build my Frankenstrat. I learned so much during that process.

Do you still have those Strats?

I've had a few Strats that I've let go over years that I wish I still had, but Oh Well...
