62 Reissue Strat with old Danelectro Lipsticks:

I've got an old Tele as well, but no pics yet.

Sweet! What kind of tone do the lipsticks give? It is a single coil vibe?

Danelectro lipsticks tend to be low-output, jangly, mid-scooped single coils. I've had some and they're really fun if not the most versatile.

You could picture them as the anti-P90.

2011 MIM thinline tele I got used (as new) in 2012, I needed a humbucker fix, it performs well.

Squiers welcome you say? this one's nearly as old as they get, One of the JVs, bought new in '83.

Great looking Fenders in this thread! Here are some of my more uncommon:

The left is a 97 Strat Plus in Redburst. Not many of these areound and this one is as new as are the other two.
Center is an 88 Strat Plus and right is a 1988 Fender Tanqueray Strat built for the Tanqueray Gin company in 1988. Supposedly only 100 were built with most of them going to GB and I ended up with two of them. This one is pristine and still has the original strings on it. The other one I traded.

This is a 1986 E-series made in japan. It does not have the original pickguard on but I have it. I just liked this better. This one also is in like new condition. -- Darwin

Dru:

I truly love the Lipstick pickups. I had to have a Strat loaded with them after seeing David Hidalgo use them in Los Lobos. Steve Soest built David a Strat with old Dannies. I thought it was the best sounding guitar he played that night.

The Lips in this one (3 very early 60's) are warm, clear and buck hum in the middle position. The bridge also has bone inserts under the strings. That guitar sounds like a Telecaster until the 2 and 3 positions are hit. Danelectro used Alnico 6 to give the low winding count some "oomph".

Definitely try Dannies, I think you'll like them!

Olympic White 2010 American Standard Tele with Don Rutters Compensated saddles and Rocketfire '52 Buterscotch Blond pickups
wow! so close to the ones i have which would be an 89 american standard strat in olympic white and a 2012 american vintage 58 tele in aged white. i have changed the tele's saddles to glendale cold rolled steel.
however, i would like a 2nd strat with a rosewood fretboard and sunburst finish. so there you go(or there i go).
play music!

There is just something special to me about Olympic White Fender guitars. Probably has a lot to do with the Hendrix Woodstock Strat and Terry Kath was playing a Oly White Tele when I saw Chicago (CTA then) in 1969. It is very nice having a maple board and a rosewood board Strat. Big difference in feel to me. I really would have to say I prefer the rosewood to the maple on Strats, but definitely Maple on a Tele. Just an odd bias of mine.

Thanks for the info. I don't think I've ever played those dannies before, outside of perhaps something in a guitar shop years ago.

Here's my Tuff Dog Merle Haggard. I bought it originally to resell and posted it before for sale. But I've been thinking that I'll keep it. Sounds great and it's a great build. I was afraid to put a mark on it but I figure it needs to be played. I may even take the protective plastic off the case latches.
