Magnetic pickup recommendation needed - urgent
Im currently in NYC and will check a few guitar shops tomorrow in one day.
Amongst other things would like to buy a magnetic pickup that i can easily switch between guitars. Assume it would be mainly used on dreds. Can you pls give me your recommendation and why, max 200 dollars. cheers.

Baggs
LR Baggs M1 Passive would be a great option and slightly under your price range.
Sunrise pick-ups are perhaps the most respected of magnetics but I believe they're slightly out of your range..

for that budget, the M1 from baggs would do nicely..
BUT.. if you're in no rush, I'd say wait for the Headway magnetic pickup, projected to be released quite soon from what I was told at NAMM. VERY VERY impressed. It was full, natural, has the high shimmer that most magnetics lack but headway seems to be able to incorporate that into their designs across their lines. Think it's 199 street if i'm not wrong.

LR Baggs M1-A: Has it's own pre-amp and you can control the volume (somewhat) from the guitar. Wonderful sound. You should be able to get it for around $30 under budget.
Sounds great on my D-35 Hope this helps, Ray

M1 Passive is the way I would go in that price range. But consider how you will be plugging in and whether you need a preamp or di as well. I like passive because it give you more flexibility and you don't have a battery in your guitar.
