Thanks Red, DLO, and Jay. I really appreciate your listening and comments.

Greg Lake's voice in the original is saturated with a DEEP reverb. I tried that, but it sounded wrong because my voice is so much flatter (less resonant?) than his. You'd probably be surprised how much reverb I DID use on the vocals. It was a battle using as much as I did and having it play nice with the compression and EQ'ing. (It's amazing to me how much those affect reverb characteristics.)

I've received constructive criticism from people here with good ears saying that I was using too much reverb. I'm still trying to figure out how much is enough or too much and realizing that it depends on the song as well. Thanks a lot for the comment!

It's been a long time since I've logged on here and my first time back I hear this song. Wow.

That was a great production. Well played. Nice arrangement. I can't even think of anything negative to say about it.

I too learned this back in the day. But I only learned the main chords from the verse. A couple of years ago, Budster did a rendition and it inspired me to learn the whole song. I love playing it now. I play it at jams and I love the response. It's just a very cool song.

Very well done! And a nice surprise, too, I might add...

About the only things I would add/change would be: the "distance" effect on the lead vocal, and the electric guitars are pretty hot in the mix and they kind of "come from nowhere", given the context of the song texture... I'm trying to remember the original, as it's been quite a while... but I seem to recall that Greg Lake did the same sort of thing, and I thought it was a bit "off" as well, so there it is!

All in all, a good listen and a nice homage to a classic tune... thanks!

Jaco, Rob, and Seth--thanks very much for listening and for the comments! Weird how much more time mixing and mastering can take than the actual recording of the music, huh?

Excellent production. That was really well done.

ELP was such an influence. They actually got me into classical music as well (Pictures at an Exhibition, etc.). Keith Emerson was a genius (still is - he's still playing around!). He could just do it all. Classical training coupled with intense creativity and the stuff he did with the Moog synthesizer was incredible. There does not seem to be much of that kind of talent these days.

Thank you, Steve and Bruce!

Steve, I would have taken pugs for AC/DC fans, but I'm glad that they like ELP covers!
