Default New cover: "From The Beginning" (Emerson, Lake & Palmer)

Just finished a cover of ELP's "From The Beginning". I've loved this song since I can remember listening to music. In the hangover of the Great Folk Scare and Psychedelic movements, the early British proggers somehow stumbled upon a beautiful mix of acoustic and electric modes. I've always thought this was a near-perfect song in its combination of blues, folk, jazz, and psychedelica.

This might be the most faithful cover I've recorded, though I avoided the temptation to indulge in the closing Moog wankfest and opted for a shorter modulated guitar outro.

As always, comments, suggestions, and critiques welcome. I'm always learning and I know that many of you are REALLY good at this stuff. Thanks for listening.

I am simply stunned. The bass throughout... The guitars... The tin can megaphone whatever you call it guitar at the end. I just bow.

Very, very well done!! I agree that this was a beautifully constructed and performed song during that time. It has always been a favorite of mine as well! Thanks for sharing it here!

Your voice definitely makes me think Peter Gabriel. In case you are thinking of future song ideas.

Synth sound was ALL WRONG. (There, how's that for a nitpick. )

Brilliant. That's a labour of love, getting it to that state. Yah, that's one of those songs that got a lot of people into playing acoustic guitar. It was way more interesting than a lot of the cowboy chord folk tunes from the 60s.

So, next, "Still - You Turn Me On?"

What he said. I too bow. Wow.

The only comment I could make is that maybe the vocals could use a touch of reverb. Just a touch. But, I can't recall the original off the top of my head at that level of detail.

Great job, and thanks for sharing!
