I would suggest something like the TC Mic Mechanic or Acoustic Play. The Boss DD pedals are more for instruments.

There are actually pedals out there made specifically for vocal effects with a mic, so I would definitely look at one of those. TC-Helicon has been making some pretty good ones.

TC Helicon Play Acoustic has both guitar and voice processing. It is quite flexible and you can be as understated or overstate as you want. It has good reverb for both voice and guitar and can even add harmonies if you want to go there. It is all in one box too. There are a lot of demos on Youtube.

If you can find one or still sell them the boss VE5 is one of the best vocal machines for the price , can really clean up the vocals and as much delay and many many other choices via menu Battery or AC

I'd say a cheap, small mixer with basic fx - the way I was taught with reverb was turn the knob until you could hear it, then back one notch . Gives a "presence".
Am I being too simplistic?

I use the mic mechanic in one rig, and boss ve8 in another. Mic mechanic sounds perfect for your needs
