Default Fishman SoloAmp - Channel 1 not working

Plug a guitar or mic into channel 2, no issues.

Channel 1 seems dead as a doornail.

Haven't used this in a LONG time. Possible my sister had something to do with this, as she had it for a while. Good thing I love her

Anyone else ever have a channel stop working? I contacted Fishman and hope to find a repair center near me.

Well, that stuff can happen, from time to time... especially when an item is "on prolonged loan", even to a sister!

Should be an easy fix for someone who knows what they're doing... I'm guessing Fishman will be of great assistance. Be sure to let them know if the unit has not really been used much...

Good luck, here's to a quick fix!

I recall reading these units a very susceptible to dust getting in the controls. Especially the pots/knobs. Especially if it sat unused for a while.

Clean, compressed air did the trick that most people mentioned. You might also try contact cleaner. Hopefully Fishman can help you with that.

LindaW, Fishman customer service has an excellent reputation. A quick call to them will help put you on the right track. Not that I would predict this to happen for everyone, but a member posted last week that, in a similar situation, they sent him a brand new model unit.

I contacted Fishman a few years ago when my Soloamp had a crackling issue. They were superb and provided service even though it was out of warranty. I could not have been more impressed.

I bought one with the 1/4 RCA input not working on one channel. I called Fishman and they sent me the new board with instructions how to change it (very easy with 1 Allen wrench) for $20. I suspect you have a similar problem. Call them, they're great.

Linda; Along with this information, I forgot to mention another "quick fix":

If the unit has not been used in some time, often there can be some corrosion build-up inside that jack. The quick fix is to plug in/take out a cable, 10 or 20 times (with the volume or power off!), and then try that socket again.

If you have any contact cleaner (like De-Oxit), spray a bit in the hole of the socket (again, power OFF on the unit) and plug in/unplug 10 times or so, quickly... wipe everything down and try that jack again.

This can work for "scratchy" sounds, as well...

This may be the quickest, easiest solution to your problem. Have you spoken to your sister to find out if "anything" happened while she used it? That will also give you a clue as to how to proceed...

Best of luck, and please, let us know the outcome!

This is likely caused by dirt or dust in one of the controls on that channel. There is a fix you can do at home. You can remove the front panel of the amp and spray compressed air into the small square opening on the side of each control. This will remove any dust and usually the system will work fine after that.

Been there. And the fix worked for me.

Going forward, this problem can be avoided by using it often, and turning the knobs every few days... from what I understand anyways.

By the way... the same problem you outline (OP), I experienced. Fixed. It happened again. I called Fishman, and politely complained that I hoped I wouldnt have to keep doing this every few months.

They sent me a new SA330. I paid the shipping.

Their customer service is frankly amazing.
