Cordoba question...
My fusion maple 12 developed 2 small cracks in the top near the neck all of a sudden. I can't tell if they are finish cracks or if the top is falling apart on me.
I did a quick search and there are quite a few Cordoba fusion guitars for sale with cracks in the tops or repaired cracks..... Is this kind of thing common on the fusion Cordobas? I am still within my 30 day return so I can get another one... or should I just get my money back? |

I had a fusion 14 RS. Mine had the same cracks near where the fingerboard meet the body. Those are usually pretty stable, and you may not need to be concerned. Cracks on the soundboard above or below the bridge are the ones to be concerned about. However, they usually can be repaired, and don't effect the tone that much.
If you can post photos of the cracks, it would probably help you get more specific answers.

I have a Made in Spain Cordoba, and its soundboard is fairly thin. I've played several Made in China Cordobas, and their soundboards are very thin. The MIC Cordobas have more volume, but gently squeezing the top will reveal just how thin they are. I've seen MIC Cordobas hanging in stores with top cracks along the fretboard.
I know people love them, and they do sound nice, but it's your money..... |

I took it back today and had them order me a new one. Should be here Monday.
I bought this particular guitar because the factory setup and intonation was nearly perfect... There were 2 other fusions at GC that weren't even close |

If the new one has a less satisfactory factory setup, that is easily fixed by a good tech or luthier, though it may cost a few extra bucks. If the intonation isn't up to snuff, remember that is due to the strings just about as often as it is to the guitar. Hope it turns out great!
