Non carbon help needed in the Carbon section
I know there are experts on the forum who can technically think through the physics of string tension and scale length easily.
But there is a discussion over in the Carbon section (having nothing to do with carbon fiber concerns) which is confusing me and I'm hoping someone with insight can quickly straighten out the discussion and the "testing" that is being tried. Some of the discussion is that guitars with tailpieces play easier than without even though scale length is longer---or something like that--and there are other things discussed which just don't seem to jive with what I've learned over the years reading posts by Tauber and others. One of the posters is workbench experimenting and referring to other articles and since I am now lost--thought I'd ask for expert help before I abandon the thread entirely. I'm confused. Here's the thread: http://www.acousticguitarforum.com/f...d.php?t=401542 thanks in advance. Edit: added a starting point closer to the actual topic since the thread veered off about half-way down. The first part of the thread morphs into a discussion about scale length vs ease of play that seems off a bit. Just looking for some clarity from an outside perspective to ease my mind. http://www.acousticguitarforum.com/f...42#post4650769 Last edited by ac; 09-24-2015 at 01:15 PM. |
