The Nocturnal is one of those pieces I never got around to learning. Your recording is now the fifth time (I think) that I want to put it in the "Next" pile. Your rendition was inspiring. Shamefully, I'm not as intimate with it as I would like to be. Having said that, this is a stellar performance. When I heard Breams recording, the piece became more three dimensional. There are lots of elements to that piece, particularly in some of the middle variations, that too many players fail to bring out. I hear those elements coming out in your playing. When the theme finally comes, you brought shivers through my body and tears to my eyes.

I see you've worked with William Anderson. I don't know him, but I've thoroughly enjoyed working through lots of Robert Martin's music. Some of the solos from Diary of a Seducer, and the chamber piece Water of the Flowery Mill are among my favorites.

Thanks for this! And the very best wishes and success for you!

I haven't had time to listen to the whole thing yet, but let me just say: Wow! Very impressive. Welcome to the forum; we need more than 11 posts from you!

Thanks Todd. Yes, I first began the Britten when I was studying with Anderson. He's especially insightful with 20th century and later music as you probably know. While his student, I had the chance to perform No. 31 of the Martin Diary Of A Seducer, Vol. III: Guitar Trios. I would love to learn more of his music; will definitely check out Water of the Flowery Mill.
