BadLiver- to me, that's kind of the idea. It just sounds like an acoustic guitar. If you can't tell it's being amplified, that's a good thing

Looks like he's got an aura spectrum DI on the floor.

He never states which brand pickup is in his acoustics here but just what kind. Also folks here are correct that he is using a Fishman Aura as well.

Here's his latest Rig Rundown in case you guys haven't seen in it yet. Good stuff!

Jason uses the fishman matrix pickup. Also, for anyone who can't see the video, just search for any recent acoustic performances by jason.

Haha, i asked exactly the same question a few months ago

And got the same answer: Fishman Aura
I thought it may have been the Lyric due to the mic sound of it.

Here's the thing though... And lots of ex-Aura users will say this: The Aura often* sounds great to someone listening, but playing it is a different story. An electric guitar analogy would be the Line6 Variax modelling guitars. Sounds spot on, but there is some disconnect between the strings and the sound because of the processing.

*it can and often sounds to "phasey" and metallic.

Yep, well said. I always struggled to put into words the type of disconnect I had with the Aura. When I heard someone play my guitar with the Aura engaged, the tone was incredible. However, on stage with the Aura through my monitors, the tone was always metallic and phasey. I don't want to say there was latency but that's what it felt like.

I love Jason's critique of Fishman Aura on the Utube. He's sold.

Saw him last Thursday night in Denver. Only live acoustic guitar sound that might be better is Neil Young at least that I've heard. He sounded great! Just bought tickets for his show at Redrocks next September.

What I am curious about is how the Matrix UST was installed in Jason's D-18. His Authentic D-18 has the long saddle. I assume Martin installed in when the guitar was made but still curious.

I don't know in this case but at least some of the current long saddles are drop in.

Straight from the horses mouth.

Edit: Just realised it's already been posted. Enjoy a superfluous imbedding.
