Endpin jack replacement advice needed
The jack on my old Seagull M6 has become very noisy. I decided to replace it because a previous attempt at cleaning it was more of a miss than a hit.
I just want to make sure of what I have here... What I (think) I know: On a new jack... The shield goes to the long end...the sleeve connector The red to the tip connecter The white, well...I'm guessing this is from the negative battery terminal to a switch? I have and end pin jack to that has a switch to cut power when unplugged? Right? Or not? I'd appreciate it if y'all would let me know and if you could provide any links for a suitable replacement. BTW, this connects to a factory installed LL Baggs micro-EQ. PS: When I manage to wiggle the cable end just right, the pickup works and sounds just fine...until I move. I've plugged my other guitars into the same amp with the same cable to isolate the problem. Everything else works fine. |

jacks wear out. Good to replace them from time to time. The shortest pin is your hot lead from the pickup. So red to tip, jacket to ground, and white to the longer pin is almost certainly switch for the battery when you insert the jack.
So it sounds like you got it.
