Default On The Mountain (Norwegian Folk Tune)

https://youtu.be/h8I9WZuiK34

A Norwegian folk tune, played on the Yamaha GL-1 guitalele, with Southcoast 'Eddie Freeman Special Guilele Strings'...tuned E to E like a guitar, but with strings 4,5&6 one octave up. Wonderful sound and feel.

Hope you like the song. It has been around forever. Some surviving Norwegian folk songs date back to the 12th century or earlier, but the origin and age of this one is unknown. It also has lyrics, added in the 1800s, celebrating the freshness of the mountain air and scenery.

The knitwear is Norwegian too, by the way...

A sweet, wistful sounding melody. Thanks. I have to admit I'm part Norwegian, maybe a bit biased!

I enjoyed the song very much. I have been looking at Medieval and Early Renaissance music lately and the piece you played is in some ways quite similar. Do you know when it was written?

Thank you, folks....glad you liked it!
The song is a folk tune, origin and age unknown. It may be as old as from the 12th century, but that is just a very wild guess indeed.
