Default Gibson L-OO

hi ;I bought this guitar brand new less than a year ago. I replaced the open gear tuners because one of them broke. They sent me a new set but , I just don't find these tuners reliable enough. The tuners have this thing where ;you turn it and it free wheels before it tunes the string... anyway ; what can I replace these with ?I want individual tuners ;good ones! Thanks .

Interestingly, the Gibson spec shows Grover Mini Rotomatics as the supplied tuners but if your tuners are the open gear "butter bean" style, I have real good luck with Wilkinson WJ28N , 19:1 ratio, very smooth. I've bought about 6 sets of these. Around $30.

I find them smoother than Grover. There is a Gotoh version but 3 or 4x the price. I never tried.

Closed tuners can be good or not same as anything else. You'll probably have to enlarge your shaft holes and drill new screw holes.

OK ; yeah I don't want to drill the holes out . I'd rather do a drop in replacement. Thanks

The dimensions are in one of the links I posted. You'll need a metric ruler or convert to inches online.
