Recommended Etudes for … Asturias
At some point (read: years), I’d love to be able to call Asturias as part of my repertoire. I know it takes an immense amount of technical proficiency and sheer stamina to play this piece.
Any recommended, more accessible pieces or etudes that I can learn to build my skills up to be able to play Asturias (and play it well) would be greatly appreciated.

I have a feeling I'm going to have a bit of difficulty with that book, Paikon. [edit] Oh wait clicked on it and its in English ... "THE VIRTUOSE GUITARIST - KOTSIOLIS KOSTAS". Thanks for the recommendation - I'm trying to see if I can find it here in the states.

i dont think you will find it in the states
the book has comments in greek and english so no problems there but i think that you can only buy it from Greece, use the link i posted if you want to buy it online. The writer Costas Cotsiolis is a monster of technique of classical guitar and proffesor of Athens consrvatory. Happy studying Last edited by Paikon; 10-18-2012 at 09:57 PM. |

Hmm...I've never heard of Costas before today.
He's really a very good guitarist. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SUeZcPWpROg

Perhaps it could be useful to visit my free classical guitar website.
http://www.classicalguitarvideo.com I composed a few pieces for classical guitar for my students and they seems to be very useful for the classical guitar technique. the free pdf scores and tabs about my compositions are here : http://www.classicalguitarvideo.com/...maglimusic.htm there are also my video interpretations. Thank you for your visit ! Daniele P.S. Asturias it was not originally written for guitar, Albeniz wrote it for piano. Here is why it is more difficult than a piece composed for classical guitar and so Asturias requires more technical. Of course it is very nice and it is a great satisfaction playing it. |
