Default Brook Clyst 12 fret

Hello, I'm new to the forum & thought I'd share a photo of a guitar that's currently being made for me by Brook Guitars in Devon,England.I know there's a few Brook fans on the forum.
It's an O size 12 fretter in all figured mahogany & the only guitar Brook have made with a figured Mahogany top. I'm having an ebony bridge, plain ebony fingerboard & ebony faced headstock with Waverly tuners.
I currently own an even smaller Brook Creedy in Spruce /EIR which I've had for13 years & never fails to put a smile on my face. [/IMG]

Thanks Capodave,
I'll definitely post a photo when it's finished.Simon at Brook has said that the figured mahogany they're using is 'lovely'.I think it's approx 6 weeks until finished.

Welcome to the forum, and congratulations on your lovely new Brook - how exciting. The wood looks stunning, and an all-mahogany parlour from Brook - it's hard to see how you could go wrong with that

Please keep us posted, it'd be great to see more photos and a review (and hear soundclips??) when you have it in your hands.

Thanks Fliss,
The first Brook I played was a Torridge about 14 years ago.I was smitten within 5 minutes & ordered my Creedy a few weeks later.Glad to hear that you're enjoying your Torridge so much.
Here's another photo which Simon sent today. The figured mahogany looks more spectacular than I was expecting!!

Looks stunning - not seen a Brook with a mahogany top before. Very interesting - I have a Torridge myself

I will watch out for updates

I asked Simon and Andy about mahogany topped Brooks a couple of years ago when I stopped by with my all mahogany 12 fret Larrivee and they said then that they had only made one such instrument in the past.

I'm really interested to see how this one turns out as the only guitar I can imagine exchanging my Larrivee for would be a Brook parlour and I've thought a few times about commissioning one. What sort of headstock and bridge will yours have?

We've already got a couple of their guitars in the family, a Taw built for my 50th birthday and a Teign dreadnaught which my son got for his 18th.

My son made a film at the workshop a few yeas ago which you can see here

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8N9QZjpb8UA

and you can get an idea of what a small all mahogany 12 fret 00 looks and sounds like in this clip of my son playing the Larrivee.

Next time you speak to Simon or Andy say hi to them from Chris in Canada

Thanks Chris,
I'll watch those 2 youtube clips at the weekend.I used to own a LARRIVEE OM10 in spruce/koa.It was a lovely guitar. I sold it to finance my Brook Creedy which I've had for 14 years now. I'm looking forward to seeing the clip of your Larrivee 12 fret.I think all mahogany guitars look great.
My new Brook will have an ebony bridge (Brook style) ,plain ebony fingerboard & ebony faced slotted headstock with squared off slots.Waverley tuners to finish it off nicely!! I'm not keen on too much bling on a guitar. I think the figured mahogany will speak for itself. It should be ready in about 3 weeks time & I'll pick it up at the beginning of June.Watch this space for a photo.
I'll say hello to Simon from you.

Cheers

Gary
