That is some good looking sassafras.

Welcome to the waiting game. It's tough but I think well worth it. I am #88. I am told mine will start soon, but soon is a relative term in guitar building. Each completed Halcyon you see makes you more and more excited for the start of your own.

I can't wait to see your completed guitar. Make sure to give us plenty of pics when that time comes.

Thanks for the support everyone! And especially Mr. petty...at first I thought, this is really cool... a custom guitar on lay-a-way, you don't have to pay for it all at once. But now I'm like, I want it now

The first one seems to bring out that "I want it now" sentiment in all of us. I found that to make the wait a little easier buying a baritone and a mandolin to keep myself busy made a huge difference. Now that I'm nearing the end of the wait for Ed to ship my Halcyon the anticipation is up a few notches, though still manageable.

Waiting has seemed to cure my GAS for other guitars...which is a good thing. Since I have to finish paying this this one down the road, I don't want to put another iron in the fire.

Ok, ok. I'll admit it. I'm not cured. I guess there's never a cure. Only complete abstinence. Complete withdrawal from seeing, hearing or playing guitars ever again.

GAS in an incurable affliction. If anyone does find a cure, I trust the mods will make it a sticky.

Not that it should matter to you but if it's open for discussion still I think you should go with an 00. While I have never played one of Ed's parlours, I have never played a parlour that I thought sounded good. Also, why waste more of that amazing sassafras than you have to (and it does look amazing).

Just putting in my two pennies. Feel free to completely disregard.

I have really thought about the issues you bring up here and especially having a bigger guitar to show off the wood. One reason I wanted a parlour from Ed was from what I've heard they sound great...so I thought no better way to get a nice sounding parlour was to have a luthier built one. His 00's are 14 7/8 inches wide at the lower bout which is almost as wide as my 000's and I'm going to have a enough of those. I'm still on the fence a tad....but I'm really leaning more toward the parlour because of the reasons I listed.
What are your woods?

It's a relapsing-remitting disease.

Congrats though - I know firsthand how amazing Halcyons are. Best bang for the buck I've ever played.
