Default McNally: Madagascar Rosewood/ Redwood Parlor

Hi All,
I havent posted on here in a while, thought i would share some photos of the latest guitar I'm starting. A Madagascar Rosewood/Redwood parlor which is for a friend.

So far, we're thinking:
-Ebony Bindings, with a fine line koa purfling and rosette on the soundboard
-12 Fret body join
-Slotted headstock, faced in Mad RW, bound with ebony
-Mad RW bridge with ebony pins
-Mahogany neck, possibly with a simple fine line lamination
-Ebony fingerboard, might have a custom inlay too.

Just at plate jointing stage now, but will likely be bending the sides this week sometime.

Best,
Ciaran

Did you consider a MRW fingerboard instead of Ebony? What was the deciding factor?

Looking forward to following this thread as the build progresses!! Ciarin, didn't you have a neat 12 string posted on the forum about a year or so ago? Love your work.

Ciaran, how are you getting on at Lowden? Good to see a build under your own name!

I generally stick with Ebony for the fingerboard, I like the clean appearance it gives. It will also help if the guitar does get a custom fingerboard inlay, to have an ebony background to work with! Could be an 'Om' symbol on the 12th fret.

Yes.... needing to scatch the itch of working on my own guitars!
Have yet to build a 12 string so i guess that wasn't me.

Happy new year Ciaran, guitar looks good, very like the shape of my parlour. Will it have a soundport?

And to you Malcolm! Yes, its the same mould as your Parlor, although no sound-port on this one.
