That might be an interesting (albeit short) thread: Songs that Mention Other Songs

There must be others. . .

"Highway Patrolman"--Bruce Springsteen ("...while the band played 'Night of the Johnstown Flood' ")
"Chinese Cafe"--Joni Mitchell (has quotes from "Unchained Melody")
"Harry's House"--also Joni, which quotes "Centerpiece"
And then there's the subcategory of Songs that Mention Other Bands (or Even Their Own Prior Albums):
"You Better You Bet"--the Who ("...to the sounds of old T. Rex...and 'Who's Next' ")

Not to mention "Who Are You?"

Dream Academy's "Life in a Northern Town": ". . .with John F. Kennedy and The Beatles"

And an early song by Midnight Oil, "I'd Never Change," says, ". . .If I could sing like Paul McCartney, I'd never change"

Default San Francisco (Be Sure To Wear Some Flowers In Your Hair)

Oh come on folks! This HAS to be in the Top Ten!?.....

If you're going to San Francisco
Be sure to wear some flowers in your hair
If you're going to San Francisco
You're gonna meet some gentle people there

For those who come to San Francisco
Summertime will be a love-in there
In the streets of San Francisco
Gentle people with flowers in their hair

All across the nation such a strange vibration
People in motion
There's a whole generation with a new explanation
People in motion people in motion

For those who come to San Francisco
Be sure to wear some flowers in your hair
If you come to San Francisco
Summertime will be a love-in there

If you come to San Francisco
Summertime will be a love-in there
