Pardon my ignorance but which strings are tuned up or down in an open g? Do you wind up with a g chord like a banjo without fretting any strings? I just started fooling around with an open d, but I still have to fret the 3rd string second fret and second string third fret to play a d. Thanks,

You would lower the high E string to D; lower the low E string to D and then lower the A string to G and you are there. Willie

Her "Marcie" too - a very clever descending sequence.
