So picked up my xr16 today.
Didn't have much time but was unsuccessful getting it to open up in the PC app.
Tried everything I could think of and it wouldn't see it. Connected the PC to the xr16's wifi no problem, also tried wiring directly with no luck.
Both android and iPad linked right up no problem.
Want to do the firmware update through the PC...

Have you tried to connect both the mixer and PC to a router and switch the mixer to Ethernet?

Default Behringer XR12 Air Digital Mixer Tips and Tricks

Ok. Got a handle on the basics of my XR18 just in time for gigs this weekend.

One question: is there a way on the 18 to use the record feature to eq individual channels after the recording is done?

Basically, can I use the record feature to mix after our soundcheck?

I believe the xr18 is different than the 12 or 16. It's USB hub can't record on its own. You can connect into any DAW and record on that as individual tracks.
Then you could play them back and mix accordingly. So the answer is yes, but you would need to connect an iPad or laptop, open up some recording software...

I've managed to get the PC to connect and do the firmware update.
Running the xr16 into a Bose L1C and I'm thoroughly impressed with the sound quality of this set up. After experimenting with how to connect to the Bose(my first attempt of XLR to TRS failed) and tried going into the rca ins(very noisy) I tried a different cable and the XLR to TRS worked perfectly.
First gig with it tomorrow....
Fingers crossed!

Great news. I hoped you'd get it updated. Good luck with the gig tomorrow.

Yep. Seems like I can only just record 2-track. Ah well.

I think the local record is just 2 track, from what I noticed. I think the higher end units will act as a full featured computer recording interface.

Well, I think I experienced the wifi issues y'all have been describing. Played a venue tonight with a bunch of wifi signals. iPad had difficulty connecting to the Xair. App was super sluggish and would repeatedly lose connection, making it very difficult to make any adjustments.

Time to Velcro a router in the rack.

I talked to a soundman friend of mine who had vast experience with this mixer and he said do yourself a favor and use it with a router

That seems to be the consensus among the experienced. The built in wifi is rather weak and susceptible to interference. In uncrowded environments, relative close, it works well. A router likely makes sense with the mixer hard wired.

I have read that Apple products have more issues with the wifi than android.
I think because they tend to "think" a lot more on their own. If it disconnects it will forget the network and search for a better one. I picked up a relatively cheap android tablet to be used with the xr mixer.
Played our first gig with it last night and had no issues, mind you I'm setting everything up and not really touching it except for the odd adjustment and muting between sets.
Lots of compliments on how good everything sounded. We use 2 Bose L1C's, the combination of the XR and the Bose is just about perfection

I suspect you're right. Glad to hear you had a good gig with the XR. I think it makes a perfect compliment to the Bose L1Cs.

So will basically any router do? I have a bunch of older ones I could use without spending any new money. I guess I'm asking whether the issue is just that the Xair router's signal is weak.

Yes that's it. The frequency it uses is the older style wifi that is easily interfered with. It's only a problem if you notice it at a particular venue and crowd. Otherwise it works fine.
