The problem is even worse on my gloss-finish carbon fiber guitar, and the one-piece construction transmits the rubbing noise right to the soundboard. I've really been working my technique to minimize it, but it's hard to un-hear!

But I accidentally figured out something that helped. Normally I have my hands super clean when I pick up my instruments. But I was a bit warm and wiped my face with my left hand, getting a some body oils on it, and... voila! A little grease, no squeak.

I don't think I'd want to use Vaseline (this would be on my thumb/guitar neck, not the strings, in any case) or other oils (olive? mineral?), at least on a regular basis. But between better technique and this trick, I can at least get better recordings without the neck squeak noise.
