"Young Man"?? Ha! You crack me up Tom. Between my ears is about the only place I have the "illusion" of being young .

Thanks for the kind words about the Braz. I too really really love the colors. With the additions Ben has made to the complimentary Koa binding and the spruce touches he's added in the purfling, I see this one as a long term keeper. That statement in and of itself would cause many who have known me to think I'm delusional about my own ability to feel "settled" with any guitar . That aside, this is one of several that I hope are with me for a very long time...2018 is a year of change for me!
okay whatever, just make sure you're careful with it and don't put a scratch in my future guitar!!!

I'll say thank you on behalf of Ben who may chime in as well. I know he takes a lot of pride in precision building.

Here's a couple of new pictures Ben sent me last night:

The Fretting...Stainless Steel frets! (notice Thor's red hammer ha!! )

So this "Jupitar" beauty is in "de booth" getting a coat or two of shine . I've seen a number of different approaches to the finishing part of the build. Some guys (and gals) send their builds out to some really fine finishers, and some guys (and gals) do their own. Ben is in the latter group preferring to do every inch and every part of the guitar build himself. I recently got my hands on one of his recent builds and I can attest to the fact that the finish is as good or better than ANY I've seen.

So, the SSLLLOOOOOWWWWWWW part of the build begins. Here's my beauty in the booth with one of the first coats of goody.

Mike, this is looking stellar! The Sinker over that Brazilian should sing sweetly and with power. Looking forward, as always, to your review when done!

This is some of the most amazing Brazilian I have seen! We own over 50,000 sq. ft. of Brazilian Rosewood veneer and nothing with this much variation in color. Just beautiful!

As a side note... all of our veneer was purchased prior to CITES. Some of it goes back to the 40's. Bumps was in the business from 31' until his passing in 88'.

That’s stunning!

As good as that looks, you should be excited about how good it will sound. I took delivery of a new guitar from Ben this week and I have not been able to put it down. It’s phenomenal now and it’s barely been strung up a week. I can’t imagine that there’s room for improvement (it’s that good), but If it’s like every other guitar I have ever had, it will get better with playing. Ben’s a really gifted builder and I look forward to our next build!

Thanks for posting the pics - fun to see his process.

Congratulations on your new guitar. I can only guess it must be the burst one he just finished? I heard Ben play it on one of his recent videos and it sounds great! Yep, can't wait to hear how this one sounds, I'm optimistic!

Here's a few more quick shots from "the booth":
