Difference Between "Classical" and "Flamenco" Strings?
I thought I'd ordered Bella mediums for a classical but I got "flamenco" version instead. Quick search and doesn't seem like there's much difference other than maybe surface texture. My main concern is whether these tend to have higher tension - I'm not sure if my guitar (Esteve &SR) takes well to higher tension.

Mostly the difference is marketing.
Having said that, flamenco guitarists (in general) tend to prefer loud strings between normal to low tension which will enhance the percussive tone of their instrument. You can find classical guitar strings with the same qualities. Some manufacturers have tried to make more notable differences in their strings with smoother bass strings (to reduce fingernail wear when playing rasgueados) or with colored trebles (red or black) to appeal to players' aesthetics. That is all that I have seen. |

Don from D'Addario Strings here - not to refute was the poster above said, but we make a specific set for Flamenco players. They've asked for set with slightly higher tension than normal, in order to get the snap and response that their percussive style requires. You can see these sets here, along with the tensions for their respective sets --> http://daddario.com/DadSearch.Page?A...541&s=flamenco
