I've owned a couple Maple but not any more. Just not my cup of tea. But this one sure is pretty!

..... That's the darndest thing about maple. It has a bad stereotype about it's tone. In many guitars, it comes out bright & metallic. But some builders can coax the sweetest, richest tones out of it, with full bass. Just ask Alex DeGrassi! I would love to hear a sound clip of this one!

Sound clips coming.
One of my favorite stories about maple--stop me if you've already heard this--is about a maple Greven OM. He was demo'ing 3 OM's with similar Lutz tops. Sort of a controlled experiment. 3 different body woods: mahogany, Braz rosewood, and maple. The maple had the lushest, warmest tone. It spanked the Brazilian. Not a perfect test, but persuasive anyway--maple can sound glorious.

Here's some sound clips for the Maple OM. I hope you enjoy the flavor of this Maple guitar. Steve admittedly was not in his top form during this recording session - maybe too long of a Christmas break? I think you can hear the essence of the guitar though.

Thanks for following this build. The owner has it and loves it!

Yep, typical Maple, thin bass, tinny trebles, no balance...oh wait that is what I was suppose to hear. Instead I heard a very balanced guitar with more than ample full bass and clear rich trebles.....Nice job Kinnaird of Texas!!!

Ryan, I think you were being a little hard on Steve there, it sounded pretty dang good to me. I always enjoy his rendition of "I Will" a lot.

That guitar is not only a beauty to look at (like my Kathy), but a joy to listen to (sometimes like my Kathy)

Spoken like a man who wants permission to increase his guitar collection!

One of the finest Maple guitars I've ever heard. And that's saying something as I'm not really a fan (of Maple). Convinces me you guys have magic in them thar fingers! Nice playin there Steve. Let's hope my fingers are working that well when I come to see you.

Thanks Dennis, that means a lot. Maple is not Rosewood, but that's okay. It can still sound very good. We've made a lot of Maple guitars, and they don't need to hold their heads down.

Sensational design. Maple guitars have such a distinctive sonic character. This one must be fantastic sounding.

Smile Yummy Maple

Not just for your pancakes or oatmeal....

Now I am extra excited as I have a lovely slightly used Martin Custom 0000 12 fret in Birdseye maple and Aid/Adi braces incoming this week.

What a beauty you guys have added to your herds!

Congrats to the happy owner.

Cheers

Paul

I have been considering Mahogany for my next Kinnaird commission and even looked through some flamed sets when I was at the shop this summer. After seeing the last couple of Maple guitars that Steve and Ryan have produced I am seriously considering a change to Maple. There is a great video of one of their Maple guitars on "your perfect guitar" website, it sounds amazing. Congrats to the new owner, an absolutely beautiful guitar!!

Thanks Dave! Well now, it looks like another trip down to the shop is in order.
We can comb through the maple sets like we did the mahogany if that sounds like fun to you. It certainly does to me!
