Suggest a secure floor stand?
I have several low-profile stands that are maybe 18” high. You know, the ones that fold up. Anyway, they are not good guitar keepers (just ask my Martin 12 string and my 000-28 … both took a dive off ‘em!). I need a very sturdy and secure stand for my new OM - one that locks (secures?) the neck so to avoid tipping. Needs to be somewhat portable. Suggestions? Thanks

I use Solid Ground stands. They foldup for portability and come with a travel bag. Extremely secure

Hercules GS414B - stable, strong, won’t damage your guitar’s finish. Great stand!

I just have a few On-Stage stands that have always worked fine. Lately, I've just be putting them in the case on the floor. It also makes it convenient for putting in a sound hole humidifier.

Both on stage and at home, I use a pair of Ultimate GS1000 stands... very stable, fold up to 1/3 of the size extended... had them for over a decade and they're great. Only drawbacks are that the mechanisms for loosening/tightening are plastic w/ metal... I've found I need to be mindful of that fact before I go ahead and CRANK anything down tight!
These are the tripod "hanging" type of stands... I think I found them on sale for around $25 or so...

The Starfish is the most stable one I’ve found. There is a Starfish Plus with a locking head grip. BTW the locking mechanism is automatic and seems reliable. It takes no extra effort to insert or remove the guitar.
It’s way more stable than any other I’ve seen. While I’m not an Amazon fan, here is a picture: https://www.amazon.com/Guitar-Gear-E...00L9GRJ9Y?th=1

+1 on the SG stands. I own two and they are rock solid, look like a fine piece of furniture. They will really compliment your guitars.

My favorite collapsible single guitar stand is the old tried and true Hamilton
metal stand. I also like my Hercules 2 guitar stand for my gigs.

At $300+ - $400+ they darn well better work! In the "less expensive" category I'd say go for the Hercules stands if you want locks that work. Personally I use cheap "On Stage" type stands (no lock) as unless I'm playing them or taking a break my guitars live in their cases as they're supposed to do. But this was about stands so yes, plain old full sized stands work just great and run just $10-$40 or so.

Problem is that they don't do anything other than add complexity. I've been getting rid of my locking guitar stands and replacing them with either Hamilton or Ultimate Support hanging stands for a few years now. If you want the most tip-resistant stand then the five legged Starfish stand looks like it would be one of the best in that regard, but my Ultimate Support GS-100 stands have been reliable for decades, and the guitar drops right in, picks right up again.
