I suppose you're right.
The OP does refer to "lovely", no mention of price.

Default special guitars

I have found that a good many individual builder's prices are comparable o those of the "good" brands or the boutique builders A few are lower and of course, some well above.

I've been very impressed with bourgeois OO guitars.

In the not expensive category there is the Simon and Patrick Woodland Pro Folk. Either spruce over hog or all hog, slot head, 14 fret. Sound pretty good on the Youtube videos. No where around East Texas to play one in person.

Thanks, I was waiting for that.
It certainly depends on any one person's definition of good or "lovely" is and there are others reasonably priced that are nice as well.

I have a fabulous Wingert 00 14 fretter in cedar/ East Indian. It has a lush, clear voice with a bit of a husky quality to the tone. I purchased it used and am so happy to have it. It excels more as a finger style instrument with light strumming. I have also played a deep bodied Bashkin 00 and a Klepper 00 - both were stellar.

Best,
Jayne

Gibson LG-2 is a great value. Spruce/Mahogany. Baggs electronics.
1.725 at the nut but still works for finger style.

I highly recommend checking out Waterloo (by Collings). A bit more affordable but build quality and tone are right up there!

Hi I own a Martin Jeff Tweedy OODB and would highly recommend. It works really well for fingerstyle and with the deep body gives a really good projection

Martins 00-18 is a lot of bang for the buck. I also love the Collings C-10--especially the Deluxe model with Adi/rosewood, but it's expensive. The H&D T-00-14 is also superb.
