Default Something I've never done before

I did something today I've never done before. I ordered a guitar from my Martin dealer with out playing one like it. I've ordered or bought guitars before without playing that particular guitar, but this one is a new one.

It's a D-35e. I have played D-35's before though. It's a new one Martin announced a couple of weeks ago. It has the same neck as my D-18e Retro, which I LOVE. So that part should be good. I do assume it will sound very similar to other D-35's. I got the Ambertone shaded top with the LR Baggs Anthem pickup system. I'm pretty stoked. Just waiting to find out when they will be shipping. Will post pics when it arrives.

Hi Rob,

If you have played other D-35 Martins, then I think you will be happy. I am a longtime D-35 owner. Mine was made in 1967.

I can see why you are looking forward to getting this guitar! Congratulations!

- Glenn

Happy almost new guitar day. I ordered my HD28 Ambertone sight unseeen. It was not built yet so had to wait a few weeks until production was done (not a custom order).

Besides the dealer I was the first one to play her. At first it was a bit stiff but after almost a year of daily playing she has warmed up and sounds great.

Congrats! I've bought guitars online almost every time as I don't have a local store that carries anything I'm interested in. The D-35 is a great Martin and I'm sure you will be happy with your's. Happy future NGD!

I believe that when you order an upper-end instrument from a well-known name, they tend to be very, very consistent. I played several Taylor GC8's before I ordered mine. After a good set-up, it played like a dream...and still does.

Thanks for the well wishes. Just found out it's going to be 7-8 weeks. Gonna be a long couple of months.

It took a little longer than expected, but finally got the D-35e from Martin. It was worth the wait. Plays and sounds great since getting that static discharge thing fixed. Here's a pic as promised:

Congratulations... love the 35! That was my first Martin years ago. And that Ambertone top is SO sweet... can't wait.
