Default RIP - Linkin Park's Chester Bennington

I was never a fan of Linkin Park, but I used to have many friends who were.

Just in case there are some LP fans here, I thought I'd share the news.

I read some conflicting info on this at first, some sources saying it was a hoax.

Sad.

Depression is no joke. It's not some veiled, dramatic cry for attention. It's an illness, a deep, dark hole one cannot climb out from sometimes. When existence is pain and you despise yourself to the point of shying away from mirrors because you loathe the reminder of who you are, it's time for help. Real help.

Very thoughtful post Jambi. I am a mental health advocate but I have been at it for a long time and have developed an edge and a low tolerance level. Thanks for your comments..

Sad news. RIP. I listen to their music still for my workouts at the gym. Good music to get your blood pumpin and heart rate up.

Thank, Jambi, for that perspective.

I'm not familiar with Linkin Park's music, still less Chester Bennington... but hearing about his death makes me unutterably sad to think that a young man of 41 felt he had no other choice.

Major Depression is an insidious illness. It saps one's will to do much of anything, even getting out of bed is a steep hill to climb. Personal hygiene, relationships, etc. get swallowed by the black hole of despair. No matter what an outsider sees, from the inside it is all hopeless and bleak. No joy, no peace, no raison d'être. A family member of mine once described it as being stuffed into a dark place that you cannot crawl out of.

I did not know anything more than the name of this band (my daughter used to listen to them) but I am sorry for this man's plight and the grief his loved ones must be feeling.

Some thoughts should remain private.

I understand that he has left six children behind. Tragic. Sad. We are nowhere near being able to pass judgement...just try and empathize.

Cowardly?

That's a completely inappropriate comment about someone you likely didn't know.

FWIW I think Linkin Park's music is wretched, but that has nothing to do with how much sympathy one might feel for someone in the band.

Some 21,000 children under the age of 5 die every day due to poverty, hunger, preventable diseases, and war.
Despite the horror of this daily holocaust it rarely manages to achieve media coverage.

Very sad. He should have been looking forward to enjoying his retirement.
