I believe that the Savoy also has the headstock soundport, correct? I'm curious as to what effect, if noticeable, there may be.

On my Lucky 13, you can only hear the headstock sound port when you hold it fairly close to your ear. The main sound hole and side sound port dominate. In rough terms, I would say 75% sound hole, 20% sound port, and only 5% headstock sound port.

But my left ear is my bad ear, so the experience may be different for others. When I've let friends try it, they have described a minor "stereo effect" that I can't really hear.

Point and shoot... and a Savoy...I'm on it and there.

Savoy lands in classified. Once in a while I go to the classified of this forum just to see what's happening. Imagine my surprise to see a Savoy in the offerings.

Wow. Seems that life changes for the seller, who has posted in this subforum, are prompting the sale. Present asking price is $2,200 shipped. Seems reasonable to me. Is it?

12% discount isn't really much, warranty wouldn't follow I imagine. But it's a new model not much competition. I got a as new Lucky 13 in the used market for $1350, on Ebay; no one bid but me. Usually in the used guitar market I shoot for 50% of MSRP.
But newer carbons seem to hold value much better. Bet he will get close to $2000?

Evan probably should have started a new thread rather than post this in someone's NGD thread, but this is interesting news indeed. I've been communicating with the seller since before he joined the forum, and he is looking for a very specific small body to accompany his voice. I didn't have Savoy for him to try, but he's purchased some other guitars from us over the years, and he is a very nice guy. Not sure what a Savoy without warranty will bring, but these are amazing guitars, so in this case the sellers loss will truly be someone's gain.

Edit: just tried to find the ad and it's gone.

Ted; I was taken by the notion of a Savoy landing and the classifieds being a dock. But you are right, and I won't do it again.

Hopefully that means either a quick sale, or a rethinking of circumstances that were forcing the reluctant sale. Hope the seller did OK either way.

Without question, I'd also hold out and pay the extra $ for that burst. Beautiful.

Back to the original NGD post with a bit of GS mini bashing thrown in for flavoring.

I don't think the GS mini is the right guitar to compare to a Savoy. I haven't had a Savoy in my hand, but I have had others such as a Cargo to compare against a mini and that really warped my brain because I was completely wrong going in. I revised my opinion when I found that Cargo was such a better feeling guitar (neck and sound) than the mini. I think the minis are beautiful and wouldn't kick one out of the house, but they are too small for me because of the skinnier neck.

How does the Savoy compare to guitars that are closer in size such as a parlor, Lucky 13, or maybe Journey?

BTW the KOA on the pictured mini is awesome which is why I was very close to getting a Taylor before I fell into the X20 trap.

My wife would agree with you, mot. Once she got hold of a CA cargo, the mahogany topped GS Mini went up for sale. And that was our second attempt, the first being a used spruce top. Granted the Cargo is 3X the price of the GS Mini koa.....

Savoy would seem more properly compared with the Lucky 13 or the Rainsong Parlor, or possibly the Emerald X20 or X7.

I have two koa Taylor guitars already (all-koa 424LTD and koa / spruce GS-K) so I am immune from the koa version of the Mini, even though it really looks good.
