You will get a ton of suggestions. I put an L.R. Baggs Anthem SL in mine.
This is a UST with the addition of a microphone. It allows you to balance the output of the microphone only. The UST is configured to respond only to 250 kz and lower so there is no "quack." A lot of folks like the simplicity of a K and K and it does provide a relatively "natural" amplified tone. Those who use them could tell you if you should use a pre-amp and what that will do to help amplify your signal.

As an aside if you're contemplating an E20D, I highly recommend it. Contact Ted at LA Guitars, he'll hook you up!

Can someone compare the e10d vs. the e20d? 10 is mahogany, correct?

Correct. The E10D is mahogany b/s vs. E20D, which is rosewood. They also make an E6D (mahogany) and E8D (rosewood), which are made with Sitka tops.

As Jamie mentions, I'd go with the LR Baggs Anthem SL, but a lot of people really like the K&K Mini too.

No, I ordered it from The Acoustic Shoppe. They are extremely helpful! It's tortoloid and semi-translucent, so you can see the rosette and wood grains through the lighter color.

I've owned both, and I found the E10D had a smoother, rounder, woodier tone with brighter trebles. The E20D had a much deeper and more defined bass. It had more individual note separation, less of a chordal blend, if that makes sense. It was was also louder, with a lot more headroom.

Wait till you see what they're showing at NAMM. I had a private tour of their facilities about a month ago. I'm sworn to secrecy. As they said in Top Gun, "I can tell ya, but then I'd have to kill you."

BTW, I'm proud to say that Eastman is now using some our picks to road test some of their guitars, including in the custom shop. Couldn't be more humbled than that.

My E20D was the loudest Dreadnought guitar I have ever played and it's a pretty long list of Dreads. Since I haven't ever played any Jumbos, I wouldn't know but of those I have heard, they were the only guitar louder.
As Zissou said, the headroom is unreal. The bass was not boomy like a Martin, but it was powerful.

This one is definitely powerful and perhaps just a shade louder than my E40D. It was responsive out of the gate, but the sound is continuing to evolve. It's still very young --- only two months old.

I've said it before and will say it again. Eastman dreads are amazing, and the stars of the Eastman lineup....

Congrats on our new E20D! Unless Ted changed the strings on it, Eastman now uses light gauge Cleartone PB's on their E20D's, so you weren't swapping out EXPs when you changed strings.

Vida, when you were looking at pickguard materials, do you also looking at Luthier's Merchantile? I'm still trying to decide. They have some cool colors.

Thanks! It keeps sounding better each week --- and I had a nice placebo effect, when I installed the pick guard this week too! FYI, they signed an exclusive agreement with D'Addario last March. I'm pretty sure they were EXPs.
