It's priced out at $499 at Sweetwater for those interested.

Great looks exciting.
Acus amps have gone the same route. I met a busker who has the Acus with the battery inside. Sounds really nice. Looking forward to feeling the weight of the Loudbox mini. The Fishman mini sounds great with electro acoustic guitars plenty of bottom end for the size of the amp.

The EAE A4-8 is about the same price but with more features. The fishman should be louder but can you run keys or e-drums or a fancy ETL Myrtle mic?
I know the Fishman loud box is well received here but I just don't like how it colors the tone a bit. I prefer something more transparent.

I believe EAE A4-8 uses lead acid batteries right? Must be heavier and must be kept in charge while not used...

From the rather lightweight specs of Fishman mini I would say they use Li-ion batteries.

I agree with you about Fishman coloring the sound. The feature I like most is having a gain pot. So many products have fixed gain and volume nowadays...

Not sure what kind of battery EAE uses but the A4-8 weighs 28lbs. That is a bit more than other portable systems but it's not back breaking weight, plus they have that metal handle for easy carrying. Most of that weight probably comes from the fact that they use MDF as the cabinet material instead of plastic. Anyone who knows anything about speakers (not me) will prefer MDF construction over plastic 11 times out of 10 for sound quality alone. You get a much more natural bass response because they don't need to artificially boost the bass which to me sounds horrible. But others like it, mostly for booty bouncing bass. The A4-8 also has gain pots, 48v phantom, para mid, notch filter, compression, effects, etc, etc, etc.
I do think the Fishman will sell well, but it's not for me. I want something that makes my J45 sound as natural as possible without any coloring of the tone.

Thought I'd revitalize this two-year old thread and get some feedback from those who have used the Fishman battery-powered amp....

I have them both.

I detect no difference.

Way better covering.

Actually, the Fishman Loudbox Mini Charge uses a sealed lead acid battery as well.
