Hum; Fixed!
I think I posted awhile back about my Cort "ProCustom" fauxcaster that I snagged at a thrift shop for ten bucks.
 I cleaned it up and fixed a couple things, and it's been a decent electric to learn on.  But, it's been picking up a lot of 60-cycle hum, which has become even more pronounced since I got a tube amp (Blues Junior, yay!) and even more so since I put in an overwound Duncan SSL-5 in the bridge last weekend. So, today I used aluminum foil duct sealing tape leftover from a dryer project and shielded the entire cavity - bottom, sides and channels.  That in turn contacts the foil shielding on the pickguard (I made some overlap near a screw-hole by the pots) which makes a total Faraday box and man o man you'd think I installed humbuckers! Well worth the effort!

Nice fix! I have some hum when plugged in but not touching the guitar... but as soon as I am grounded (through) the (grounded) strings it goes away. If it eventually bothers me I will go that route. Great score for $10!

Way to take matters into your own hand and fix it up. Sounds like you have it playing well. Regarding the hum, a bad ground connection can do the same thing.
