From Wikipedia - As secular psychological concept, greed is an inordinate desire to acquire or possess more than one needs.

I think that you have defined your need for a smaller guitar to play on the couch. So I have to say no, you're not being greedy.

I got my first Martin in 1977, a lightly used D-28. I really thought I had arrived. The quality beyond the couple of Guilds I had owned, was indisputable and it had that name on the headstock. I only had it for a couple of years. (Needed a plane ticket to Europe) but the Martin haunted me for 11 years. In 1990, I bought another used D-28... a 12 fret, this time and it was love. It went down the road seven years later (needed a neck reset) for a new Collings 12 fret 28 style dread, which I have owned for 20 years but still needed to own a Martin. Had to see that name... have three Martin now and I'm a happy farmer. A 00-28VS, an OM-18 Authentic 1933 and a D-28 Authentic 1931. They get along famously with my old Collings and my new Cotten 12 fret, 28 style, 000. I hope I don't want any more guitars but I don't regret having five wonderful choices when I leave for a gig. No two are alike.

You make a very good point!

Agreed. It’s my only vice — one woman, many guitars. As long as you play each one at least once a month, you’re good. If you’re not, then you are a collector looking to profit someday (nothing wrong with that) or you need to flip those puppies into ones you want to play more.

My 2¢.

I sort of have my eye on a 000 or 00-28. I find that it’s a bit difficult to play the big dread on the couch and find the 000 or especially the 00 much more comfortable. I played one at a local shop yesterday and was blown away by the sound coming from this smaller instrument. Even liked the 00-17 black smoke model although it felt much lighter.

Of course I wouldn’t want to TRADE my HD for a 00, so is it ridiculous to want to own BOTH?? The “re-imagined” models that are coming out made this desire even more substantial!

I am just a hobbyist, I don’t play professionally or anything, just really enjoy playing. I can definitely see that Guitar Acquisition Syndrome is a real thing.

It's only wrong to want another guitar if you can't really afford it and only you know the answer to that.

My only advice is to buy used, and save hundreds.

A particularly attractive endpin is a good enough reason to get another Martin.

I picked up a like-new OM1GT for $600 . . and every time I pick it up I am amazed at what a great guitar it is. For $600!!! Absolutely amazing. The smaller body is very comfortable.

Traditionalists may not like the stratabond neck, but it plays and feels amazing and the thing stays in tune better than my "real wood" guitars. . .

Well, it isn't as though there are a limited number of guitars available, and if you get another one someone else goes hungry, right?
