Default All Mahogany Guitars

A few weeks back I purchased a used Martin OMC 15 E. I liked it right from the start and lately, it's become my "guitar of choice" to play.
I don't know if it's this specific model, the ease with which it plays or what, but I sure love the tone of this particular 'Hog. It has the warmth of Mahogany but the highs are really sweet sounding.
Anybody have an all Mahogany they like in particular?

rokdog, I do... my recently acquired Eastman E10-OO-M, which is all solid-highly flamed mahogany, 12-fret and short-scale. Eastman has been successful in acquiring an impressive stock of premium mahogany and offers instruments with this wood at very reasonable prices. The build quality is excellent; the light-weight bracing/build, combined with a thin high-gloss lacquer finish, gives a very rich and responsive tone. No fret buzzing. The action is nice and low, making for a very easy-to-play instrument. This guitar won me over the moment I opened the case and played it.

I've got an all-Mahogany Collings OM2 that I'm very fond of. It's a great combination of Collings power & articulation with deep warm fundamentals of Mahogany. It's a very nice little instrument.

Default All Mahogany Guitars

My favorites!

I currently have an all-Mahogany H&D 00 and a Collings 01 Mh. I also had a 15... what a great series! I had a 00-15M that I would probably still have if it had been a short scale.

I obviously like the smaller-bodied Mahogany guitars... I like that bluesy, precise, fundamental kind of tone. Nothing beats it. Hope you enjoy that OMC.

My H&D 00...

My favorite tone in the whole house (acoustic wise) is my humble Ibanez AC240. Best fit for my voice I have ever played.

If you don't mind a dread, I love the sound of the Taylor 520 FE (I'm selling due to size) - even if you're not interested in the guitar, you should take a look at the ad to see the 3 videos that profile the tone/volume available. Through headphones or amplification is best. I remain impressed.

I just bought a used Guild D-120ce. Not a top of a line guitar, but still all solid. I love it in DADGAD with bluegrass strings on it and that's where it will live.

One day I'd like to get Martin 000-15M, as well.

Was just playing my fairly new Guild OM-120. Sounds and feels terrific.

Custom 0-15 from Ted. I've had other Martin hogs-and liked'm- but this little jewel is my favorite. 24.9 scale, 1.75 nut, 2.25 spacing, bound, nitro non-catalyzed finish, non-scalloped x-bracing, Murado finger board and saddle, Gotoh open-backed tuners. Just an Angelic tone and a pleasure to play.

I have played a brand new (2017?) Taylor 522 twelve-fret at the LGS a couple of times. This has to be the single best Taylor guitar I have ever played, both in terms of tone and comfort. I have played a LOT of Taylor guitars over the years (and owned nine at one point before deciding to downsize).

If not for my current desire and trend to go all carbon fiber, it would be hard to resist this one. But I am done buying wood guitars. Really.

PS: Awesome flamed mahogany guitar, DHart! I never seen one quite like that in person, and thought it was flamed koa at first glance.

Fond of my 00 15 12 fret custom Martin.

I played a SCGC 1929 00 that was insane. One trick pony, but what a trick (finger style blues).

Ya'll are enablers. But you know that.

I've wanted an all-mahogany for quite some time. But can't figure out how to fit it in with my need to downsize.

Hey Jim, I know! Buy an all-Mahogany, and then figure out how to downsize.

Always been a fan of hogtops and it's been longer than I can remember exactly since I have been without one. Had a Larrivee L05mt for a few years. It was beautiful and a really nice sounding Larrivee. Let it go when a friend put his Martin 00017s up for sale. Hat to have that guitar so the sale of the Larrivee helped pay for the Martin. Loved that Martin and still do. Sold it to a friend and AGFer who I saw last week. Nice to play that guitar when I get the chance. Always been a little surprised it wasn't more popular given the popularity of the 15 series Martins. The sale of the 000 helped pay for my 0018vs. The hogtop slot in my group is filled by my Santa Cruz PJ. Had it a few years. Wonderful little 0 size guitar. A little joy. Took it to Fur Peace Ranch for Rev Gary Davis Week last year. Just knocked over hearing the great players take turns playing it. With its new little Mono 80, won't be spending much time without the PJ when I am on the road.
