Default How much is my 1998 rainsong worth?

So this is my first post on here and I've really had a hard time with this question...So In the past few months I've aquired a 1998 rainsong acoustic. It's serial number is sub 250 and it's one of those that has the "breaching whale" on the headstock. It's a great acoustic but if I ever wanted to sell it I have no idea where to start on pricing it...I contacted Rainsong and I was told that in 1998 the kind I have retailed between 3500 and 4000.. does anybody have any knowledge or advice on these old rainsongs?.

Thanks for taking a look at it for me. I appreciate it very much. I don't know how I haven't found this website any sooner. Ha

The early Maui-built Rainsongs were pretty pricey, as you mentioned. They had the unidirectional CF tops, instead of a woven fabric. Prices came down some as they figured out how to tweak the design, and then moved to Washington from Hawaii. That $3500 price was the main reason I never bought a WS-3000 12 string, even though that store had one for a couple of years. Now it is too late, as Rainsong no longer makes 12-ers.

I'm not sure that the added cost would carry over in used value (probably wouldn't for me) but I yield to Ted's superior experience there. I too would like to see pics of these early instruments. My Hawaiian-built WS-1000 is serial #4xxx, and has the sharks. It was bought from Elderly Music sometime in the late 90's. We lived in Alaska then, and wanted a guitar that was immune to humidity issues.

Hey, Suddz, ever find out more on your Rainsong?

I just got a Hawaii built WS1000, serial number faded, but appears to be #4641. With the sharks, like Earl49s.
